Bauhaus Inspired: The Great Gatsby Poster
For this poster, I was inspired by The Great Gatsby novel and its iconic green light, which symbolizes hope and ambition. I used bursts of green in the design to reference that theme while creating a bold, dynamic layout that captures the energy of performance. After discovering that The Great Gatsby was also adapted into a musical, I designed the poster with sharp angles and strong typography influenced by the Bauhaus movement to give it a modern yet theatrical feel.
FOUR ROUGH DRAFTS
Sketches before I finalized what I wanted to actually design on the software, Adobe Illustrator.
ROUGH DESIGN
My two rough designs when first making them was a unique experience. The first version was suppose to symbolize The Eyes T.J. Eckleburg, which is why I have designed him like that in the first place.
The second version is what I have within present day except it did not have the address, dates, and times. The simplicity of knowing "The Green Light of Hope" is if the audience have read the novel is what always catches their eye.
